“Time To Go” is the newest single from one of our featured artists Mayo, and is from his upcoming mixtape “Dream Big”. This is his first new song since he released “Wassup”, which has been played and downloaded thousands of times. Now, he is back again and ready to shock the world with this new release. The music video, filmed and edited by 15-year old Justin Escalona, was shot right after Mayo’s show last month with Mike Stud. The track displays a newer sound that we haven’t really heard from Mayo before, and it’s really cool to hear.

When asked about this track, Mayo said, “[t]his track is one of my personal favorites off my mixtape; not because of the heavy lyrical content of the song, but more of what I had to say in the track. I feel like it is one of my realest tracks I have made and hope everyone can really vibe out and enjoy this track it is somewhat of a different release from me, but I find different to be better in some cases. I can’t wait to release my mixtape this summer I have been putting a lot of work into but for now enjoy this new track and visual!”

Wake Up (Mixtape) — Alex Jordahl

Click to download the complete mixtape!

Alex Jordahl is a regular here on The Fresh Selection, and for a good reason. His music is lyrical, catchy, and diverse: the makings for an amazing mixtape. Jordahl has worked long and hard on this tape to make sure his fans know who he really is, and what his music stands for.

His team, Deadstock Music Group, has been moving forward with leaps and bounds and with the release of this mixtape I can see their success being propelled even further in the future. Jordahl really is a great kid and it has been amazing to get to know him, and watch him improve throughout his music career. I chose my favorite four tracks from the tape below and done a small write-up on each individual song.

This classic is what really sent Jordahl’s music soaring. With over 12k views youtube, this song is one that you can just sit back, chill and enjoy. (This song is also the most played in my iTunes with 32 plays… Well deserved.

The High Life (ft. XXL)

Bringing fellow Deadstock teammate, XXL, on to the track Jordahl brings his signature laid-back flow over a great guitar instrumental and creates a easy-going, easy-listening track. One area that Jordahl really excells in are his catchy hooks, this song is a perfect example of that.

Walk With Me (ft. Teejay)

Jordahl AND Teejay, what more can be said?

My Music (ft. Mayo & Alex Theesfield)

This song represents the Deadstock team as a whole. Featuring all three of the original Deadstock members, Jordahl, Mayo and Theesefield combine to make a track guaranteed to have you humming the rest of the day. Theesefield, does a great job on the hook, Jordahl shows his more lyrical side, and Mayo tears apart his verse per usual.

Your dreams aren’t shit if you don’t get up and chase ‘em, your future ain’t predicted homie get up and make one.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, The Fresh Selection-featured artists TeeJay and VP, dropped a heart-warming track titled “For The Mothers”. The title pretty much says it all, as the two up-and-coming Chicago artists each have a verse to rap about their mom and how much she means to them. It really is nice to hear tracks like this every once in a while, especially on a holiday.

Less than a month after dropping his mixtape “A Boy Named Hue”, Huey Mack released the music video for the 4th track of the tape entitled “Nothing Back”. The song, featuring Scolla and Mike Stud, pretty much tells listeners to live their life without regrets. It’s my personal favorite song off the mixtape, and I’m sure anyone who hasn’t heard it will enjoy it as well.

As far as the video, it’s a collection of shots from the last few stops of Mike Stud’s Toast To Tommy Tour. Everything is shot and directed by Jon Kilmer, and it’s great to see the visuals for such a good song.

Cuey is a guy who just don’t feature enough here on TFS. I’m not sure why, but it always seems like I forget to post some of his newer music. Regardless, a week or so ago he posted a new video for, Rich Kid, a track produced by Brenton Duvall, and released after his most recent mixtape, “Can’t Wait.” The video is directed by Adam Ross, and is completely genius. Flawlessly put together video + amazing song = instant hit.

p.s. Brenton Duvall is my god, and his tweeter makes me LOL harder than this picture.
